We could all use some rural insights. :-)

Re: Milking The Virtual Cows

Man...I just wrote a splendiferous reply...and it got lost in dialup land. So...I'm going to try and recreate it...

Margaret! So are you (a helluva writer). And just think, we have farm animals in common. I also used to be a business analyst. I've probably written 42,657 pages of software specifications. I wore off the keys on my laptop. I used 'a' a lot, apparantly. I could still be a business analyst, if medicated. If you get tired of writing specifications, feel free to throw some work my way. Nobody will know I'm working in Paris. I won't tell, if you won't tell. Meanwhile, I need to add you to my feedreader, as soon as I get back home and can get my own computer online. But something (and the scent of billygoat) tells me that I already have you in there. You may have sidled over here before. Whatever the case, thanks for stoppin' by!

Re: Milking The Virtual Cows

I had to send this along to a friend here in eastern Iowa who runs a dairy with her family. I know she'll enjoy it as much as I did. Who knows, she might even be able to give your some more imagery for your virtual milkfest.

Re: Milking The Virtual Cows

My goodness, you're a helluva writer. It was so delicious. :-) I will try your finger taste test, and I wish I'd thought of heating some warm milk to help me go back to sleep. Next time!

Re: Milking The Virtual Cows

Oh, what a delicious treat! And you want to know the best bit about milking a cow, virtual or otherwise? The bit that makes all the stinky, sweaty work so very worth it? It's getting a sip of the freshest milk you've ever tasted, still warm and rich and full. That's the taste of morning right there. It tastes like waking up with a heart full of love and longing.

It's not quite the same but if you gently heat up a little full cream milk then dip your finger into it and lick it - that comes really close. It might, just might give you a little bit of that something which could help stop that wonderfully wild mind of yours. There's even a scientific basis for it because milk has a mildly soporific effect.
